फीकी पड़ने लगी ताजमहल की रंगत, कूड़ा जलाने से होने लगा बदरंग:
एक भारतीय-अमेरिकी अनुसंधान दल ने पाया है कि ऐतिहासिक ताजमहल के पास शहर का ठोस कूड़ा जलाना इस विश्व धरोहर स्मारक को बदरंग करने में अहम भूमिका निभा रहा है। वैज्ञानिकों ने पाया कि खुले में ठोस कूड़ा जलाने से पीएम 2.5 का प्रति वर्ष करीब 150 मिलीग्राम प्रति वर्ग मीटर ताजमहल की सतह पर जमा होता है जबकि इसकी तुलना में उपले जलाने पर यह आंकड़ा 12 मिलीग्राम प्रति वर्ग मीटर प्रति वर्ष है।

बनारस हादसा: ट्रेन आने से पुल हिला और  भगदड़ में कई लोग कुचले गए
वाराणसी के राजघाट पुल पर लगा कई किमी लंबा जाम।बाबा जय गुरुदेव की जयंती पर 20 साल बाद बनारस में बड़ा प्रोग्राम हो रहा है। इसमें शनिवार को मांस और शराब के खिलाफ शोभायात्रा निकाली गई। आयोजकों ने प्रशासन से ये कहकर मंजूरी ली थी कि करीब तीन हजार लोग आएंगे, लेकिन पहुंच गए 3 लाख से ज्यादा। पुल पर थे 15 हजार लोग, रैली में कार-जीप-बाइक भी शामिल थीं। पर ज्यादातर लोग पैदल ही थे।  हालात ये थे कि एक तरफ से गाड़ियां जा रही थीं तो दूसरी ओर से भीड़ पुल पर चढ़ रही थी। पौने एक बजे करीब 15 हजार लोग पुल पर मौजूद थे, तभी गर्मी और प्यास की वजह से कुछ लोगों को चक्कर आने लगे। इसी दौरान इस डबल डेकर पुल से एक ट्रेन गुजरी। स्वाभाविक रूप से पुल हिला। तभी एक महिला चीख पड़ी- ‘पुल हिल रहा है। गिर जाएगा।’ ये सुनते ही भगदड़ मच गई। कई लोग कुचले गए।
