UGC Relaxes Norms for Women and PwD candidates for Doing study of M.Phil and Ph.D

UGC Relaxes Norms for Women and PwD candidates for Doing study of M.Phil and Ph.D:  University Grants Commission (UGC) decided that Some relaxation criteria for Women and PwD Candidates for studying M.Phil and Ph.D Courses.

What are the Relaxation Given to Women and PwD Candidates for studying M.Phil and Ph.D Course

1. Women and those with more than 40% disability will now get a year extra to Complete their M.Phil Papers and two years more to submit Ph.D theses.

2. All women candidates will also be provided Maternity leave and child care leave for up to 240 days once while they pursue these two degrees.

3. UGC has decited that those registered for  M.Phil and Ph.D Courses before July 11 2009, will be governed by rules that existed then for appointment  as Assistant Professor for Other Posts in University / Colleges. But in these rule followed by Ph.D degree of a candidate should have been awarded in regular mode only.

4. If women scholars relocate, they can transfer research data.
