  • NASA engineers have developed three dimensional printed copper rocket engine part.
  • It operates at extreme temperatures and pressures using additive manufacturing technique. 
  • The machine had fused 8,255 layers of copper powder to make the chamber in 10 days and 18 hours. This 3D printing or additive manufacturing technique has the less time consuming ,ten times faster, cost effective of making rocket parts.

 Lowering of age of juveniles


  • Approval for lowering of age of juveniles from eighteen to sixteen years for heinous crimes(like murder and rape committed by juveniles in the age group between 16 years to 18 years. ) given by the Union Cabinet. 
  • This decision was taken by Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • The cabinet also approved to introduce Amendment to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of 
  • Children) Bill, 2014.

Utsonmobile-a mobile application for paperless unreserved tickets


  •  An ‘utsonmobile’, a mobile application for paperless unreserved tickets  is launghed by the Railway Ministry of India . 
  • The application service was launched by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi. 
  • The centre of attraction in this application is, it will allow its passenger to buy a ticket on the move and to board the train with the ticket secured on his mobile phone in digital format, without any need for printing the ticket.
  • As a pilot project it covered 15 stations in Southern Railway in its initial launch. Later on it will be extended to entire country in phases. 

Release of Gharials in Sutlej and Beas rivers


  • On 17.04.2015 an approval has been given for the  release of Gharials in Sutlej and Beas rives in the state of Punjab to promote eco-tourism by the Punjab Chief Minister- Parkash Singh Badal.
  • After recommendations of the State Board for Wildlife only this decision has been taken.
